Almost everybody suffers from depression, anxiety and stress at some point in their life.
Exams, interviews, meeting deadlines at school, college and work, worries about health and lots more.
At times, life's not easy! Some stress is good for you; over a short time it could help you to perform better, but a lot of stress is not good for you!
What are the signs of too much stress?
feeling irritable a lot of the time
sleeping problems - being unable to get to sleep or waking up very early
nervous habits such as biting your nails
unable to concentrate
being very sensitive to criticism
indigestion, headaches or migraine
sickness, dizziness or palpitations
If you're feeling low or unhappy what can you do? Sometimes you can do little things to help you over a bad time: gentle exercise like walking or swimming warm bath with aromatherapy oils relaxing listening to music talking to friends or family learn relaxation techniques
You may need advice or just understanding and support from someone who's not out to judge you. Don't ever feel on your own - there's always someone you can talk to. If stress is becoming a real problem for you and you want to talk to someone: contact a Connexions Personal Adviser at your local Connexions Centre call or email the Samaritans to talk to someone at any time of the day or night - see contact details below
They are all there to listen and, if you need it, offer sympathetic advice to help you out of a personal crisis.
