What is Clearing?

Clearing is a service offered by UCAS to help people who have not secured a university or college place to fins suitable vacancies on higher education courses.  Each year more than 30,000 people gain a place during Clearing.  The Clearing period begins in August and continues through September and vacancies are published on the UCAS website and in some national newspapers.

Who can use Clearing?

You can use Clearing if you have applied through UCAS during the current application cycle and if:

  • you have no offers.
  • your offers have not been confirmed because conditions have not been met.
  • you are a late applicant who has applied after 30 June (or after 12 June for Art and Design Route B).
  • you have declined your offers or have not responded by the deadline.
