► Directgov: Young People
Directgov Young People (formerly Connexions Direct) is a service for young people which provides careers information and advice by e-mail and telephone or online through webchat and moderated chat rooms.
To use the service you don't have to give your real name if you don't want to, but by providing your age and gender it helps tailor the advice for you.
Directgov Young People is a confidential service which means information will not be shared outside the service unless you tell them that you or someone else is at risk in some way.
Current job profiles can be found on the Next Step website.

► Information, Advice and Support for Young People
Advisers offer careers information, advice and support to 13-19 year olds between 8am and 10pm seven days a week. Please note that as of September 2011, the focus of this helpline will be careers and learning. Advisers will suggest suitable alternative sources of information for non-careers issues.
► Phone and Callback
You can phone direct to an adviser on 080 800 13219 or complete an online form to request that an adviser calls you back. Calls are free from a landline but you may be charged from mobile phones, so if you phone from a mobile give the adviser your number and they will call you back.
► Textphone
If you are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech difficulties, you may choose to use e-mail or adviser online, but you can also contact an adviser using the textphone. The number for this is 08000 968 336.
► Text
You can text for simple information like telephone numbers. If you want more in-depth information and advice - calls from your mobile are not free. Ring us on 080 800 13 2 19 , tell the adviser your mobile number and we will call you back. Please don't waste your money sending us picture messages as our system doesn't support them. Text us on 07766 4 13 2 19.
► Webchat
This is not a chat-room. When you click on Webchat you will enter a one-to-one confidential session with a trained adviser.
If you e-mail in a question an adviser will send you an answer within 24 hours. You will have to give them some contact details so that they can e-mail you back.
► Moderated Chat Room and Message Board
The chat rooms are fully moderated to ensure your safety. Please do not attempt to post any personal details in the chat, as other chat room users can view the messages posted on the site. If you need advice that is not related to the chat room discussion topic of the day, you can contact an adviser separately through webchat, email, telephone or SMS text message.
